Today - 09-25-14 - is the First Day of Rosh Hashanah. Actually the first day began last night since we measure days biblically (evening and then it was day[light] - so the evening before is when the day starts!)
09-26-14 is the Second Day of Rosh Hashanah.
Both days are work-stop days - so no posts.
And Saturday is Shabbot - which is also supposed to be a no work day. Which I have totally messed up so often in the past. I think to observe the Sabbath is not something that is supposed to be easy. It actually requires effort - a determined effort to NOT engage in the usual every day activities that so fill our lives.
Additionally - Rosh Hashanah is not only a beginning of a new year - but also a time of reflection - of viewing what we've done over the past year(s), of trying to right some wrongs and of thinking about and determining how we choose to aim the direction for our lives in the future - for at least the year to come. Sometimes it is a royal struggle to think this through! And this year is really no exception.
