Yup!  I forgot all about Columbus day until last night! And, of course, this explains why I kept hearing parade music.  Thought I was losing my marbles - or at any rate, what's left of them!

Hhmmm - a Cutting day quilt-wise for me!

Cutting day - something I picked up from Bonnie Hunter.  You see, I have these BAGS and a big BOX of scraps that have been hanging around my quilt room WAITING for me to do SOMETHING with!  Like slice and dice them into strips or neat little squares and rectangles of various sizes (3.5 inch, 2.5 inch, 2.0 inch, 1.5 inch, strings (anything less than 1.5 inch) and crumbs!)

Thus far I've been using my weekends to do SOME slice and dice which leaves me unhappy because I'm not sewing!  So - on that note - why not use a weekday evening as a designated slice and dice - complete with a quilt-cam re-play with Bonnie Hunter?  Yeah!  There ya go!

Of course - I COULD do the same thing re quilting all over - and keep a WEEKDAY for that as well - instead of waiting until Friday!

Say - use a Wednesday evening to work on quilting a quilt. (not that this lets me off THIS weekend!  I have a QUILT to do!

Who knows - maybe if I set an appointment with myself it will happen!  Sort of like a class! (which is another reason for not doing it on a Friday or a Sunday - I have classes on some of those days - and look for reasons to NOT quilt and NOT slice and dice on those days!)  Maybe make it complete with hot chocolate (step AWAY from the quilt, please!) and an audiobook or two!  (Of course, I already do audiobooks when I quilt - and like them - just that I need to use these as enticements!)  Maybe make it an order-in a pizza or some chinese!  Celebrate!

Sigh!  I DO love the finished product!  And I DO love being able to stitch up all kinds of things and not have to cut up little squares when I have an idea in mind!  So - sounds good to me, anyway!  What do ya think?

This is the eons old Sampler swap - STILL to be mailed out (and a couple of small things to be fixed first!)

ALSO there is the Fall Pumpkin swap (no picture - sorry!) which is ALMOST done!  Will take pix then!

The Christmas block swap I will probably tackle next week!  With my mending pile rotating to the top of my list next week - I will need AT LEAST one swap to keep me sane!

In the Machine Quilting category - there are several.  And no - I did NOT get the baby quilt done!  BUT it is ready to go! (additional piece added to backing and everything all pinned on!)  Hopefully this one will get done tonight! Hopefully!

The QOV BIG blocks are also on the list!

Now - SHOULD I get done..... (quit laughing!  And get up off that floor! It has cat hair and threads on it!) - and, no, I don't have a picture YET - I want to work on a Holy Toledo Quilt.  You see, LAST year SH quilt shop did a swap (which I joined, of course!) on 2.5 HSTs.  And I think I have enough HSTs - and if not, it's nothing to make 100 more which is possibly what I will be lacking!  Anyway - other than the BIG HSTs (6.5" HSTs) - all the hard stuff is already done!  Now, this does NOT include the HST's going around the outside for the second border - maybe.

Oh wow! It's Friday!!! WAIWO - 10-04-13

Yeehaw!!!  Saw breast surgeon today - and yes, he IS going to do a biopsy and all - but does not think that I have breast cancer - however will know for sure later.  He's just not happy (at all) about the blood issue (neither am I FTM!)

Told N. and L. about what surgeon said.  As soon as we have dates for surgery and all, N or L will drive me (I will have anesthesia so will need driver).  They took me out for lunch which was neat!

N. sounds sooooooooooooooooo much better - and isn't running a fever anymore - but neither of them is feeling completely up to par either.  Just that bit of drive out - and N was ready for a nap.  Same for Lynn.

Apparently L. won tickets to 6 Flags which was great and I know she and N. will enjoy that a lot!  Anyway - they picked up those as well, we came back - and I came home, decided I was tired so took a nap.  so much for my things to do for today!  However L. loaned me a DVD player - because I did something "interesting" to mine!  namely screw up a tape - which is now so much spaghetti!

Fixing dinner - which N and L had leftovers of (I had planned chicken - but am glad for the meal that N and L gave me since I'm sick of my own cooking!)

STILL have plans of getting SOMETHING done from the list!  Hopefully!

Thursday - yup - STILL behind!!!! 10-03-13 - WAIWO

The appt yesterday was NOT for what I thought it was going to be.  Instead it was for a combination of things - pancreatitis, chronic - which I sort of fit the pattern - but don't really have the extreme pain associated with it.  Some, yes - esp if I get into fats and binge!

So - I'm also being tested for parasites (oh joy!) which might have been picked up from a swim in lake water while still in IL - or from eating grapes that weren't washed quite as clean as I thought they were!  Ugh!

Also am being tested for celiac disease - which I don't believe I have wheat intolerance.  dairy - yes, possibly - unless it is cheese - and even there it depends (swiss is hard for me to digest).

Also have 2 procedures to go through (ugh ugh ugh!) - an endoscopy and another one I don't even want to think about!  that will be later this month!  Am expecting some problems - just don't know how much.

Tomorrow is the other big one where I go see the breast surgeon.  My personal feeling is just to lop it all off!  As in - I don't really need it anymore anyway!  Will see though.

Mostly today - I did catch ups, tried to get this place back to ALMOST in maintenance mode - not even close to CLEANING mode!  That and going to check on Nathan who refuses to go see his Dr.  He IS better - but still sounds like yuck!  (And I do believe he has allergies - BADLY - as well as some sort of bacterial infection - which he does need to see the doc.  I can understand his concern re not wanting to become immune to the antibiotics - but still!!!!)

Still - I KNOW I was busy all day.  I KNOW I worked in the kitchen, on my studies.  And yes, I WAS on the computer for a while this AM - and therein may lie a good part of the problem!  Still and all, I did expect that I would have more - a LOT more done than what I do.  And it's disgusting that I don't!  AND discouraging!  Drat it anyway!

Wednesday - Yup - did you know it's October - ALREADY??? As of yesterday!!!! WAIWO 10-02-13

Well so far today has been FUN!!!!!  NOT!!!!  3 PM and running around ALL day!  Had alarm set for 6 AM - awake - WIDE awake at 4 AM - so I read a book.  Which put me back to sleep about 530 (right after I reset alarm for 7AM).  Up, get cleaned up and ready - and head to Drs. with 2 books in tow - math (Monday's lesson STILL needed doing!) and the Earth history (same thing - Mon still owing!).  Got the math lesson done, saw the doc, have a bunch of tests ordered - all of which are NOT fun!, and 2 procedures scheduled (UGH UGH UGH!!!!) with only 1 of which will I be anaesthetized (and they had best think again if I'm not going to get my beloved Versid and Demerol for the other!).  Oh joy!  got home and son (who is horribly sick with the whatevers from this fall and from air travel!) called.  So back to Sturbridge I go to clear up things and pick up his mail (hmmm!  - much more and they woulda had to use a crowbar!).

Got back, dropped off the mail, the audiobooks (seriously overdue - only 1 listened too - next time I know better than to check out more than one set!), and picked up some chicken noodle soup from the Big Y deli.  I know a lot of folks laugh at the idea - but I've seen online where research studies (bona fide ones, not the fake ones that various companies give!) show that chicken soup actually has properties similar to antibiotics (NOT antibiotics - but SIMILAR to antibiotics) and that it is actually GOOD for you when you are ill (something mothers, particularly Jewish mothers, have been saying for ages!  when will men learn......)

then took everything including the soup, over to son's, went home and called him.  He still sounds horrible - but at least he now has something he can nuke for a minute and eat that will put some nutrition as well as much needed liquid, into him.  He says if he is not better by tonight that he will go to docs.  I think Lynn will make sure he goes!

So - it is now 3 PM - and I'm just starting my day - and working on Monday's list at that! (spent too much time planning on Monday - not enough on doing!)
