On the left hand sidebar I have a list - I call the Get 'Er Done or Fab 4 (or 5) list. Judy L. got me started on this - and it's ALL her fault! :P
Seriously - I was puttering along - about like usual - getting a lot of not much done - and she came up with this list. I put the list up - and did not a lot of much - until maybe October when I suddenly woke up - and figured out WHY!
It was like eating a roast! I was trying to scarf down the whole thing at once - instead of taking small slices and eating one bite at a time! And like someone who has taken too many bites at once - it was about to do me in!
OK - so - what to do about it? Discard the list? Nyet! The list is a really GOOD thing - it is a FOCUS ON ME list - and this ADHD mama here likes and desperately needs that! So - maybe it is the items I'm posting? Hmmm. Maybe!
And maybe it is also the humongous amount I'm posting for each thing? I admit - I really want it ALL done - YESTERDAY! Only that ain't likely to happen! Nor even for it to happen today! But maybe - just maybe - I can focus on one little tiny chunk of whatever today!
Only - that's not enough to keep me going! Not unless... gasp! What about if I DETAIL my FAB 5 list? And check it weekly? Just list ONE thing at a time! One LITTLE thing I know I can do - even in my sleep!
Of course - I REALLY find it hard to limit it all to 4 - which is why the list has expanded at times to 5 or even 6 - mostly because I also find it hard to make a choice in the matter!
And I can work on ANY one or more than one I want to!
Of course there are those items that get shuffled off to Buffalo - and, honestly, those items - either their time (according to one fellow Stashbuster) is just not yet! OR (according to another person) the item is something in which I have lost interest - OR it is something that I truly do not want to do - in which case, either FIND someone else who DOES want it and GIFT that person with the item - OR abandon the original pattern and do something else with it! OR figure out what parts you DO like and get back to those and re-purpose the blocks! with the rest becoming either new items for backing or some such!
In other words, it ain't writ in GOLD, girl! Change it around so it WILL work. Your TIME is set in stone - figure it out and get busy, girl! Time's a-wastin'!
Currently on my list.....
1. Celtic Solstice, Step 5
2. Baby Quilt #1 - quilt (walking foot)
3. Back to Square One - re-do Step 4
4. Samplers - Mail first block
That's MY FAB 4 or Get 'Er DONE list - what's yours????

Oops! LAST week's finishes and progress............
Design Wall for Week 52
Bits and pieces this week - a little Celtic Solstice, a bit heavy on machine quilting (mostly walking foot) - and will hold the binding out for this week, anyway! Finishing last bits of a table runner for the holidays (early for next year! :oP ) and adding on a long needed border to bring a quilt up to size!
As always - go see Judy Laquidara's Patchwork place for a BUNCH of blogs featuring different quilts!

Goals for WB 12-29-13
I do truly hate it when I delete everything I want to carry over BEFORE I can do a copy paste on a new week! Urgh!
Fortunately in a moment of absurd obsessiveness, I decided to PRINT OUT (novel thought, that!) the OLD goal post last week in the insane hope I would finish everything on there (I DID finish those items indicated - then read the rest of the time! Was great!!!!)
I have as of yet to get new pix. The days we have had snow - have been overcast - so difficult to see decorations! Will try though!

Stash Report for Week 51 - 12-22-13
12-22-13 -Week 51 -
As much sewing as I did this week, one would think I would have a ton of stuff to report! Nyet! I worked on Celtic Solstice almost exclusively - and STILL am a week behind! The Added is for the 8 FQ I got through the mail from my secret sis and forgot to declare LAST week! AM getting worried though - I WAS #32 on the Stashbuster UFO challenge - and KNOW I am much closer to the unenviable #1 position than that! So I HAVE to do some finishing up of things! Who knows - maybe I will get the CS mystery all caught up this week!

It's Friday! Knitting yarns and tails!
Not a lot of much has been done (except for Celtic Solstice! - only a week behind now!)
I did want to post what I am working on (VERRRRRRRY slowly!) as regards knitting! I WAS working on the Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief - and on my own could actually get the 3rd row completed! All 6 stitches worth (it takes only 2 stitches - knit - per row on the first three!) It was the 4th row that was my FIRST downfall!
Judy L. was kind enough to explain how to do the next row - and then I THOUGHT I could figure out the rest on my own. I probably could - but after struggling through the 8th row - I decided that it was definitely beyond where I was at the moment! So I decided to UFO it for a while - at least until I felt better about my abilities (or non-abilities at least as regards coordination and knitting!)
Looking around for another knitting project - I found EASY knitted cowl! http://sarahclements.com/2011/03/27/knitting/free-knitting-pattern-easy-cowl/
The word EASY is what drew me! And I think I have enough yarn! Probably enough to do 6 or 7 easy cowls if that's what I want to do! I DO have to get a different pair of needles though, drat it! which means either a visit to the yarn shop, or a visit to an online yarn shop - either way, I start drooling when I hit the store/site!!!! Still I will be good! Honest! (NO yarn, NO other patterns, NO classes which almost always get me in trouble! ONLY the knitting needles!)
So - no pix yet - BUT a referral to the pattern I think I will do (EASY still draws me at this point! So does BEGINNER!)
Please visit Judy's blog for more about What's on the Needles!

LAST week! - a week of unfinishes and oops!
The oops came from having to sew, unsew, re-sew, re-unsew (because I made the SAME mistake all over again!!!!! TWICE!)
AARGH! It was also a week of running around and standing in lines.... LONG lines! and then discovering that apparently I can't read - so more running around and standing in long lines again (like I enjoy long lines????)
Anyway - that's done! AND I picked up more kitty food today (I forgot about this last week when I was standing in the long lines!) - so hopefully I'm set! Hopefully!
Library stuff is up to date - so far! at least until the end of the week! and I have my current supply of audio tapes ready to go. which all things considered will probably run out tonight!
Today - I'm working on all the stuff I didn't get done last week! Even if I did have Open Sew!
first on the list is the poor house! Is it neglected? Let's say that if the dust mice get any larger, I will put ears on them and call them rabbits! At least the dishwasher is working - knock on wood! So is my washing machine, even if I will be enjoying wrinkled shirts (TG for sweatshirts to go over the top!)
QOV and Celtic Solstice part 2 are on the schedule - as is the house - and paying my bills (already done! ugh!). I will probably visit the post office tomorrow mid day. Maybe! Or not!
Tonight is a slice and dice night! Possibly reds - although I may be focusing on a different color - a stashbuster co-member is calling the colors! Got a lot sliced and diced last week in the reds (although not all!)
Finishes for week before last!
Oops! Forgot to post pix of the finishes!
Dec 4 I began - and finished Lynn's Infinity Scarf
Dec 4 I began - and finished Lynn's Infinity Scarf
Infinity Scarf - I tried it on to show it as how it would be worn. Lynn looks a lot better in it! |
Santa Block Swap! and the Holiday wreath that goes with it! |
Celtic Solstice Star points - all of them - completed - Step 1 Now working on step 2! |
Design Wall for Week 50 - 12-16-13 - aka as Oops week!
LAST week - finished were:
For THIS week:
Don't forget to visit Judy L's blog for more Design Wall pix and projects
http://www.patchworktimes.com/2013/12/16/design-wall-monday-december-16-2013/
Santa blocks
Wreath blocks
Both of these were for swaps!
Worked on - Celtic Solstice, step 2.
Worked on, and worked on, and worked on!
MOST - not all are done!!!! Sooooooooooooo
For THIS week:
Finish Celtic Solstice Step 2 (probably today!)
Work on Celtic Solstice Step 3 (today and/or tomorrow)
Do SOMETHING card tableish for these - table toppers -
maybe as borders around a medallion type print!
Cute flannel type fabric - could ALMOST be a table runner - although more of a row-by-row than a medallion - this and the above - probably Wednesday! |
Scrap Basket Blues - QOV - Needs another border - am adding TODAY! Two inches too short otherwise! THEN will need quilting! |
Back to Square One. In this case - Am back to Step 4 - will be probably re-cutting the pieces! Urgh!!!! Tues or Wed! |
Bow-da-cious - my Leader Ender project - Wendy and I have been swapping blocks! And since I lost count... - I'm starting to put these together into block units! |
Hurricane Sandy quilt - will definitely be quilting on this one - Tuesday evening |
Yellow Brick Road - this I''m hopeful of trying a FMQ foot quilting - ummm - probably Thurs or Fri eve. |

Stash Report for Week 50 - 12-15-13
12-15-13 -Week 50 - I were a baaaaaaaaaaaaad girl! and I haven't improved any! I went to the fabric shop - ostensibly to get some really neat fabric for my secret sis! Immediately picked up 3 FQ and asked questions about them - but no, they wouldn't work for my secret sis. I tried to put them back - truly I did! But they just wouldn't go! So I let them be, figuring that I would put them back before I left the store! Then I got the goodies for my secret sis that I had figured on - and fell in love with those too!!!! But I resisted, I did! It is just that when it came to the final figuring for the $$$ - I truly could NOT put the 3 FQ back - as though I HAD to have something I was buying just for me! soooooooooo.....
ALSO added this week - 1 FQ + 5/8 yard for a 3.5 inch border to finish up that QOV (now to find someone to QUILT it!)(the ones purchased for Secret sis I'm not counting - something in, same thing out THAT day!)
Used This Week:0 yard
Used This Month: 0 yard for December
Used Year to Date: 26.138
Added This Week: 1.625 yards
Added This Month: 1.625 yards for December
Added Year to Date: 42.548 yards
Net Used for 2013: -16.827 = (-14.785 yards) + (-1.625 yards) = -16.410 yards in the hole!

On the needles - knitting (with a bit of sewing thrown in!)
Sigh!!!!
I was contemplating working on the Brass and Steam kerchief http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-age-of-brass-and-steam-kerchief yesterday and had asked Judy some questions - which helped a LOT! Unfortunately after encountering the increase 1 stitch to the right (M1R) - and getting my yarn twisted all around, I decided to put this one on hold until I can knit better and go do something that I am ABLE to do!
Sooooooooooo - to that end http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beginners-easy-cowl Sarah's easy Beginner Cowl may be right up my alley - at least for the moment and enough so that I can actually get something DONE without having to take it apart every other stitch!!!! (Of course that can happen with this one too, but that's a whole other story!) I am still strongly interested in finishing the B&S Kerchief and will, but think I need to build up some success first!
That being said I was busy a good part of yesterday - fighting crowds at Barnes and Noble to get some Angel Tree gifts for a little one. Walmart had books which were quite nice, but not quite what I was looking for when it came to an 8 yo girl! So to Barnes and Noble I went - and thoroughly enjoyed myself! I WAS good, however and didn't buy any books for me - which seriously was a major struggle, as my family can testify! (I'm a book-a-holic from the word go!)
By the time I got home, fixed my lunch, packed my bags it was time to head Open Sew - which I did! Open Sew projects included working on Celtic Solstice, buying fabric (UH OH!!!!!) for an additional border! and my knitting project (which I didn't touch since no one there knits!) So - I worked on Step 2 of the Celtic Solstice!
Pictures will be added later!

Sad News
Lynn's grampa is seriously ill and in the hospital. things are NOT looking good and the family has been called together (yesterday). Any and all prayers for the grampa are certainly appreciated. Currently he is on medication to relieve his suffering.
This is so sad - he has been such a lovely vibrant man for at least as long as I've known him (2 years) and I know his family love him dearly.

Stash Report for Week 49, Sunday, 12-08-13
12-08-13 -Week 49 - Not a lot of much done this week- until Yesterday - when I finished up my last 20 of Clue 1 (Celtic Solstice). Made decision to re-do 6, 5, 4 - and re-cut as needed (definitely!) for Back 2 Square One. Went to Infinity scarf class - and really hesitated over this one - made an infinity scarf - just not sure whether or not to include that yardage - it IS part of my overall stash - just not the quilting stash! so - not totally sure on this! Used was 1 2/3 yard for the scarf with enough left over for a drape-y type blouse for me! Scarf is for my dil IF she wants it! (Hmm - I also forgot to post picture of it as well!)
Still - not counting that for this week - still not sure I should and easy enough to add later if need be!
