I'd like to blame it all on the cold and my boob surgery - but, honestly, I can't!  Let's just say that if wiring was all that was needed to light up all the holiday lights for Westfield for the holidays - and that since I'm the one who ate something like 2 pastries, 2 cups hot chocolate, and 4 doughnuts and was considering a 5th - then I should have the lights up and running - for the next TWO years - at least!

Am about to head out and take some pictures - mostly because I am totally T-bored with everything I have.  Not that these will have to do with flowers.... but - there IS a lot of other scenery... isn't there?

Have found - it is REALLy hard for one person to take pictures - especially since weekends are heavier traffic times - and almost every place (excepting for this tree) has NO WHERE you can really stop and take pictures!  Re pictures of the college - there were events AT the college (football game) and at Stanley park across the way - both today!  I had NO idea how the pictures turned out - until now - especially since most were drive...hold camera outside window with one hand.... hope a lot!..... and take the picture and keep on driving!  So - we'll see!  NOT done - will continue to working on taking pictures as time wears on,  I think.

STILL haven't made up my mind on the setting for Holy Toledo - but am thinking of Barrister's block - which is VERY VERY similar to Bonnie's!  Still would like to put this on point - but honestly - I don't have any of the same kinds of green I used and I'm VERY jealously hoarding all the rest of the greens while waiting for the mystery!

Friday - And ANOTHER month is gone!! WAIWO 11-01-13

I truly do NOT like colds!  Do not like surgery either!  Between the two - I feel ouchy, congested, and my brain is so gone I have NO sense whatsoever!  Worse yet, I have NO DESIRE to study - or clean or whatever.  DID get up, straighten my room and do the dishes however.  Noted that the dishwasher is STILL a problem.  Son said he would come around and fix this.  Strange thing is, though - he didn't remember saying the SAME thing 2 nights prior to this!

Mostly I read a little, then drift off to sleep - and drink a LOT of fluids - and - oh yeah - visit the little room out back, which is what happens when you drink plenty of liquids!

Wednesday! Whew! Day AFTER surgery......... WAIWO 10-30-13

STILL feel lousy - only now pain meds worn off - so am loopy from new pain meds and not making a lot of sense - even to me!  And of course, am being a big baby - because I REALLY REALLY hate colds - and I have a humdinger of one!  Surgery ouchies don't help either!

And I STILL slept most of the day - in good part due to the meds, I think.  Not a lot of much accomplished - but then I didn't really expect that there would be.

Tuesday ... Are there REALLY 52 Tuesdays a year??? WAIWO 10-29-13

Surgery done! Man, do I love Versidd!!!!  If Versidd were a man, I'd marry him!

Doctor (poor guy!  I told him he was the anaesthesiologist!!  He wasn't sure HOW to take that!) said that everything looks good. Still and all, they sent lumps, etc. to lab to make sure there was no cancer!

Since then I have been sleeping - off and on - and more on than off!  With this lousy cold (yup, it finally decided it was a cold -  not an allergy!) I have been doing more sleeping than not.

Oh yeah - and I was ALMOST late for my operation.  Somewhere on the paper I got (and the phone directions AND the hand written directions) it said that yes, the surgery was at 3 PM - but I was to show up at 1 PM to register and all.  Let me say - the staff there at Mercy was GOOD!  All forms completed, signed, and everything, along with IV in place, meeting anaesthesiologist, doc (again) and everyone on the team by 326.  What time did I actually arrive?  305 PM.  And, yes, they COULD have cancelled - but they didn't!  It has been a long time since I've been late for anything - but at ONE time - I was late for EVERYTHING!!!!!  And no, I'm NOT going to revert to then!

Question is - how much of what is below did I do?  I went for surgery.  PERIOD!

Improvisational placemat #1.  All 4 are completed (along with a "centerpiece") -
now for the applique, backing and quilting!

Baby Quilt #1 - STILL needs quilting - walking foot -
SHOULD be easy.  God willing!

Back to Square One Mystery quilt.
Working one step  a day to hopefully catch up!  Need a more current picture but I don't have one!

BUSY weekend - What I did!!! 10-25 to 10-27-13

Thursday and Saturday night I worked hard - until 1230 each night - 1 AM on this........

 Then Friday night I worked on the Y seams on this.  Rest was a piece of cake! But oh those Y seams!

 I also finished the 4th of the Improvisational quilts.  This little exercise was in response to a Color challenge that Vickie Welsh did.  She had shown a picture (by Seurat???) of a woman sitting in a chair - like in a sidewalk cafe - Victorian era - and she had the full leg of mutton sleeves - and was watching the sidewalk as people walked by.  The colors were as below and somehow this came to my mind in response to the painting.  The Improvisational quilt is supposed to help me free up my mind so that I'm not as restrictive as I usually am.  However - you can see (these are out of order) the progression from a rectangular shape to eventually a more trapezoidal shape.  Yes, these ARE placemats - no two the same in color, makeup of pieces used, shape (although 3 do come close!)  And no - they are NOT finished - along with this improvisational background, I want to applique (even with MY skills :(  ) a white plate with a single "taster" helping of fruit on it.  And when time comes to quilt - I think I want to use a combination of McTavishing (on the plate and again on the fruit - to emphasize it's fullness) and something else - not sure exactly what!  It is unbelievable the amount of time I spend on these 4 agonizing over my choices!

I felt yucky enough I spent most of day in bed - sneezing, coughing, using up a year's supply of tissue - and then some!  Ugh!

Stash Report for Week 43 - 10-27-13

10-27-13 -Week 43 - Worked on Holy Toledo for the NEW quilt and have finished the blocks themselves.  Now working on border and sewing it together!  

Also finished a Pumpkin table runner.  Pumpkin block swaps are ready to go (and I need to find out where I stashed the picture!) but all swaps on hold re mailing - until I have some $$ for postage!

While I didn't spend a lot at shop hop re fabric (I do NOT want to count rulers in on this!) I still didn't recover all amount brought IN to my stash and have some still that NEEDS to go OUT of the stash!!!

Flimsy FINISH!!!! YAY!!!!

Finished this one at Runnermania!  Halloween table runner!  Sure do like Bonnie H's suggestion of cutting all fabrics BEFORE class (so we can have the utmost concentration possible) and sewing while chatting AT class!

As to the actual table runner itself - ummm - I have mixed feelings about it although the border DOES help A LOT!!!! It doesn't help that this turned out almost 75% different from what I imagined it would be!

ALMOST had 2 or 3 others on flimsy finish - just not quite there!

Yardage used - 2/3 yard plus 1/4 yard - and it does NOT have backing nor binding - and that is NOT added in - so what was used was 11/12 yard all told or .933333..... yards with very little left over!

Is it.... Can it REALLy be FRIDAY again? WAIWO 10-25-23

Love this!  Went shopping and did all my running around!  Had a list - a long list of stuff I wanted - which I abbreviated A LOT at the grocery store - but still had a MUST buy portion on the list.  One of the MUST buy items was eggs.  I remembered eggs as I drove out my drive - and double checked to make sure it was on my list!  Remembered eggs again at the library - and triple checked - yup! on my list!  Remembered eggs as I walked into the grocery store.  Got home and unpacked everything and put it away.  Went to make dinner - and to make challah.  No eggs!

So - how could I remember so many times and make sure to NOT forget eggs, have a list and all - and STILL manage to forget them!  Ugh!

Went to Open sew Fri eve - stayed until 11 PM when I hit my wall and had to go home. (Open sew open THAT night until Midnight - last midnight open sew for the year!)  Wheeled my roll along sewing machine carrier and boxes and bags inside.  DID manage to put the roll along away.  Left all else where it was!  Went to bed - slept until 3 AM - got up, got in my PJs, turned off extra lights and went back to bed.  slept late Sat morn!

Oh good grief! It's Wednesday, Isn't it! WAIWO 10-23-13

I love versidd!  It's an anaesthetic that in combination with another anaesthetic gives me the BEST nap!  Best part - when I wake up, whatever procedure there was - is ALL OVER!!  Yeehaw!

Along with this - tests thus far have been negative.  Today was the endoscopy and another procedure (which I do not want to discuss!) Slept right through  both of them!  A FAR FAR better change than the last time I had both procedures - when I had NO anaesthetic, NO pain killers - NADA!  Just me and the procedure - MAN I hated that!

Anyway - home from there - and all I've done is sleep, eat, drink and sleep some more!  As for anything else?  - it all goes on tomorrow's!
