Wednesday! Whew! Day AFTER surgery......... WAIWO 10-30-13

STILL feel lousy - only now pain meds worn off - so am loopy from new pain meds and not making a lot of sense - even to me!  And of course, am being a big baby - because I REALLY REALLY hate colds - and I have a humdinger of one!  Surgery ouchies don't help either!

And I STILL slept most of the day - in good part due to the meds, I think.  Not a lot of much accomplished - but then I didn't really expect that there would be.

Tuesday ... Are there REALLY 52 Tuesdays a year??? WAIWO 10-29-13

Surgery done! Man, do I love Versidd!!!!  If Versidd were a man, I'd marry him!

Doctor (poor guy!  I told him he was the anaesthesiologist!!  He wasn't sure HOW to take that!) said that everything looks good. Still and all, they sent lumps, etc. to lab to make sure there was no cancer!

Since then I have been sleeping - off and on - and more on than off!  With this lousy cold (yup, it finally decided it was a cold -  not an allergy!) I have been doing more sleeping than not.

Oh yeah - and I was ALMOST late for my operation.  Somewhere on the paper I got (and the phone directions AND the hand written directions) it said that yes, the surgery was at 3 PM - but I was to show up at 1 PM to register and all.  Let me say - the staff there at Mercy was GOOD!  All forms completed, signed, and everything, along with IV in place, meeting anaesthesiologist, doc (again) and everyone on the team by 326.  What time did I actually arrive?  305 PM.  And, yes, they COULD have cancelled - but they didn't!  It has been a long time since I've been late for anything - but at ONE time - I was late for EVERYTHING!!!!!  And no, I'm NOT going to revert to then!

Question is - how much of what is below did I do?  I went for surgery.  PERIOD!

Improvisational placemat #1.  All 4 are completed (along with a "centerpiece") -
now for the applique, backing and quilting!

SHOULD be easy.  God willing!

BUSY weekend - What I did!!! 10-25 to 10-27-13

Thursday and Saturday night I worked hard - until 1230 each night - 1 AM on this........

 Then Friday night I worked on the Y seams on this.  Rest was a piece of cake! But oh those Y seams!

 I also finished the 4th of the Improvisational quilts.  This little exercise was in response to a Color challenge that Vickie Welsh did.  She had shown a picture (by Seurat???) of a woman sitting in a chair - like in a sidewalk cafe - Victorian era - and she had the full leg of mutton sleeves - and was watching the sidewalk as people walked by.  The colors were as below and somehow this came to my mind in response to the painting.  The Improvisational quilt is supposed to help me free up my mind so that I'm not as restrictive as I usually am.  However - you can see (these are out of order) the progression from a rectangular shape to eventually a more trapezoidal shape.  Yes, these ARE placemats - no two the same in color, makeup of pieces used, shape (although 3 do come close!)  And no - they are NOT finished - along with this improvisational background, I want to applique (even with MY skills :(  ) a white plate with a single "taster" helping of fruit on it.  And when time comes to quilt - I think I want to use a combination of McTavishing (on the plate and again on the fruit - to emphasize it's fullness) and something else - not sure exactly what!  It is unbelievable the amount of time I spend on these 4 agonizing over my choices!

I felt yucky enough I spent most of day in bed - sneezing, coughing, using up a year's supply of tissue - and then some!  Ugh!

Stash Report for Week 43 - 10-27-13

10-27-13 -Week 43 - Worked on Holy Toledo for the NEW quilt and have finished the blocks themselves.  Now working on border and sewing it together!  

Also finished a Pumpkin table runner.  Pumpkin block swaps are ready to go (and I need to find out where I stashed the picture!) but all swaps on hold re mailing - until I have some $$ for postage!

While I didn't spend a lot at shop hop re fabric (I do NOT want to count rulers in on this!) I still didn't recover all amount brought IN to my stash and have some still that NEEDS to go OUT of the stash!!!

Flimsy FINISH!!!! YAY!!!!

Finished this one at Runnermania!  Halloween table runner!  Sure do like Bonnie H's suggestion of cutting all fabrics BEFORE class (so we can have the utmost concentration possible) and sewing while chatting AT class!

As to the actual table runner itself - ummm - I have mixed feelings about it although the border DOES help A LOT!!!! It doesn't help that this turned out almost 75% different from what I imagined it would be!

ALMOST had 2 or 3 others on flimsy finish - just not quite there!

Yardage used - 2/3 yard plus 1/4 yard - and it does NOT have backing nor binding - and that is NOT added in - so what was used was 11/12 yard all told or .933333..... yards with very little left over!

Is it.... Can it REALLy be FRIDAY again? WAIWO 10-25-23

Love this!  Went shopping and did all my running around!  Had a list - a long list of stuff I wanted - which I abbreviated A LOT at the grocery store - but still had a MUST buy portion on the list.  One of the MUST buy items was eggs.  I remembered eggs as I drove out my drive - and double checked to make sure it was on my list!  Remembered eggs again at the library - and triple checked - yup! on my list!  Remembered eggs as I walked into the grocery store.  Got home and unpacked everything and put it away.  Went to make dinner - and to make challah.  No eggs!

So - how could I remember so many times and make sure to NOT forget eggs, have a list and all - and STILL manage to forget them!  Ugh!

Went to Open sew Fri eve - stayed until 11 PM when I hit my wall and had to go home. (Open sew open THAT night until Midnight - last midnight open sew for the year!)  Wheeled my roll along sewing machine carrier and boxes and bags inside.  DID manage to put the roll along away.  Left all else where it was!  Went to bed - slept until 3 AM - got up, got in my PJs, turned off extra lights and went back to bed.  slept late Sat morn!

Oh good grief! It's Wednesday, Isn't it! WAIWO 10-23-13

I love versidd!  It's an anaesthetic that in combination with another anaesthetic gives me the BEST nap!  Best part - when I wake up, whatever procedure there was - is ALL OVER!!  Yeehaw!

Along with this - tests thus far have been negative.  Today was the endoscopy and another procedure (which I do not want to discuss!) Slept right through  both of them!  A FAR FAR better change than the last time I had both procedures - when I had NO anaesthetic, NO pain killers - NADA!  Just me and the procedure - MAN I hated that!

Anyway - home from there - and all I've done is sleep, eat, drink and sleep some more!  As for anything else?  - it all goes on tomorrow's!

10-20-13 -Week 42 - 
Worked on Holy Toledo for the NEW quilt. I have quite a few blocks done.  Maybe 20 out of 40 needed for the center.STILL haven't finished up any more quilts!

BUT went to Shop Hop this last Week (Friday) and did manage to restrain myself - or at least my pocketbook did!

Friday - YAY!!!! Weekend coming up! WAIWO 10-18-13

Shop Hop with Lynn and Sherri.  We covered only 3 shops instead of 9, ate lunch at a pizza place that was fantastic!!!! in Shelburne Falls, MA - can't remember the name - but do remember where it is for when I go back sometime!  Pizza was fantastic and piping hot!  My tastebuds are only now beginning to recover!!!!  The quilt shop there was small - but CROWDED!  I got a FQ and puzzle piece for the mystery quilt  there when I had them stamp my "passport".  I bought 5 FQs which were a really great price and registered for just about every drawing there was!

Second place we visited was Southhampton Quilts - where they had a LOT of food - sandwiches, treats and just about everything! Wish I had realized there would be food - although I'm glad we had pizza!  I got a ruler for a good price that they were demonstrating - one I have been drooling over for some time!  Would have loved to get more fabric - but there were other places we were going to visit - although it was very doubtful we would be able to visit them all!

Third place (and the last one) was in Chicopee and definitely one where the line forms.  Of course we each recieved another FQ there and mystery directions.  I immediately found the 40-50% off table - and promptly fell in love with one fabric - with only enough $$$ to buy one yard.  So got that.  We then came back and said goodbye.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I'm not sure whether Lynn and Sherrie did though they said they did.  I do know Lynn had hoped to buy curtain fabric - but bought only a basket kit and a FQ or two.  Sherri didn't get anything.  I did enjoy going with them though - a lot!

As for next year - hmmm - I may go although I want to make sure I have some money set aside by then.  

At any rate, after saying goodbye, I came in sat down on my bed, took off my shoes.... and woke up about 930 PM!  Ate dinner and went back to bed!  Now WHY I should be so tired when all I did was walk through several buildings - I have NO idea!  Had fun though!

Whew!  Finally - this is Friday morning and I've been trying to add pix since Wednesday (or Tuesday!) with NO success!

For some wierd reason - every time I try to add pictures, I keep getting a "Lost connection to server" notice.  Yet this does NOT seem to bother any of the posts I send!  Hmmmm!  I wonder if by chance I have finally reached the picture limit!  If so - then I need to remove some pix - after cleaning out the cache of temporary picture files, of course.  Wanted to show off some of the Holy Toledo blocks I made - as well as some of the other things I've done.  Unfortunately the "lost connection" doesn't care - won't let me show off at all!

Then too - strangest thing - I got server error 400 - everytime I tried to go back to my blog. This went on ALL day.  Finally tonight when the computer didn't want to let me on - I did a search and find to find out what my apparent addy is NOW!  This has happened before!  NO idea why!  So anyway - I'm back on.  Problem is - I STILL can't add pictures!  Ugh!

Not going to post for tomorrow - but may Saturday - not sure!  it is now 1006 PM (most of post was pre 8 AM!!!) - and I'm sleepy.  In fact, if I yawn any wider, I'll fall off my chair!  G'nite all!

Wednesday - yeehaw! Made it so far - all downhill from here! WAIWO 10-16-13

(have been trying to post picture of the Holy Toledo quilt thus far (8 blocks worth! - which is 1/10 of the whole quilt!) but I keep losing server connection!  Grrrr!  Will post ASAICann!)

Question here - WHY is it I wake up at beastly hours of the morning - alarm clock NOT going off - or really even set!  And then an hour or two later, I'm ready for a nap?????  Yawn!)

Funny thing happens when I take my study books to the doctor's office or for xrays, etc. - within less than 5 minutes, I'm shown to a room, given whatever test, xrayed - whatever.  NO WAITING!  Which is GREAT - except - I had really counted on the waiting so I could use that time for study!  Can you see how saaaad I am about this???  :D

Went to Walmart too!  Amazing how fast money goes!  I had $90 - well.... 87.50 when I got there.  Got othotics for my feet (plantar fascitis and FLAT arches!), kitty litter, meds, more meds - actually calcium and glucosamine chondroitin, even more meds- actually allergy meds - and Oh my!  had only enough for a big block of cheese and $5 left over!  No chicken this week!  Thank you feet!  Anyway - redesigned menu through Sunday - pancake night tonight, Thurs is dairy - so probably mac and cheese.  Buy the buy 1/get 1 free pound rolls of Jennie O ground turkey - one becomes turkeyloaf - that's Friday!  And homemade bread to go with dinner too! And Sat eve - tuna patties!  

Veggies I raise - so have that.  Fruit is a bit sparse - but IF I have any of the WW bread left - think bread pudding - with raisins!  And lemon sauce!  Oh yum!  Otherwise - think cake or gingerbread (which I prefer!!!!)

Tuesday - want it to be the weekend - ALREADY! 10-15-13 WAIWO

It was SOOOOOOOO nice for the day to be Monday and Columbus Day (day off here in MA!).  Sure wish it were today all over again!  LOL

It feels like I was gone ALL day!!!!  sigh!!!!

Library for my science research (I don't have a printer currently - I killed it!) and printed out some patterns for me to use in quilting.  Home in the garden hopefully  to finish up tomatoes etc. -= except they are still blooming and SLOWWWWWLY turning red - peppers and eggplant and okra also making up their minds what to do, but plants look good! Beans, butterpeas, limas - I picked purple beans - blooming again, of course!  Butterpeas and limas - in various stages of pods drying except butterpeas - I have to watch or they will mold - turned the plants again (they're VERY top heavy!) but they aren't quite ready to be pulled and hung - too many green pods! same goes for the limas! (I prefer dried limas to shelling the green things!)

Tried to talk my neighbour into taking raspberries, grapes (I have one volunteer from my own seedless grape!).  She says yes - and will plant it at their cabin in the country (If I had a nearby cabin - I DON'T think I would live in the city!)  Other neighbour not interested in plants (I offered!)

Ummm - did some of my studies - but am behind again!  didn't complete them.  DID sew on Holy Toledo new quilt - and the blocks are SOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!!!  Need to do a good press on them and take pix (I found my camera!) - and then will post.  Also - will post pix on some of the other quilty things I've been working on!

Design Wall for Week 41 - 10-14-13

First of all - there are a couple of pictures I want to replace - because I'm more along than the picture shows!  Secondly, there are a couple of projects who do NOT have pictures on here - mostly because I haven't taken them yet and I can't find the bloomin' camera!!!!  when I do - I'll post the pictures!

Another thing too - although these are presented here - and I would LIKE to get them all done - considering the other things on my plate (end of garden, subst. teaching, medical tests, and my own home-grown/assigned studies) I will be doing very good to get a fraction of this completed!!!!  These are what I am aiming for however!

Oh yeah - one more thing - I have this HUGE pile, essentially in a basket - eons old.  I believe someone once called it the MENDING pile!  Need to see what I can do to that this week as well!!!

Improvisational placemats - these are presently in a state of being appliqued!
This picture will hopefully be replaced -WHEN I find my camera!
And then you might get an idea of what I have in mind!  This is being done by hand.

Hurricane Sandy - and I STILL have no idea what I want to do - I do want the feeling of the hurricane force - MAYBE - but then more probably - to have a feeling of safety from the wind and hurricane force.

QOV blocks - this is the last weekend for me.  Have more blocks than this - and will put in an update picture later in the week.  What's done will be sent on Friday.

Arizona Skies.  This was for a class - and the quilt was knkown as Tequila Buzz until I came up with my color scheme.  All of which colors remind me (A LOT) of the colors I saw in Arizona when I was there.  Want to finish this one up!

Stash Report for Week 41 - 10-12-13

My cabinet of strips of various sizes - somewhat contained.
This however is ignoring the HUGE box of fabrics I'm still slowly - VERY slowly -
going through and slicing and dicing as I go! There are quite a few quilts in each of the drawers - example - the 2.5 strip drawer will make AT LEAST 4 more quilts - I think all queen size.  Then there are the other drawers too!

10-13-13 -Week 41 -

Worked on swaps, the house and mostly my studies this week.  Have the big HSTs done on Holy Toledo for the NEW quilt (I have all the small  HST's DONE courtesy of a swap last year!)  STILL haven't finished up any more quilts!  So the figures show the same as last week!
